There is a bit of a saying, the best camera you have is the one you have with you. This was especially true recently as our little family went on a cruise for a fortnight and the only camera I had was my phone.
We flew to Sydney and then travelled to Mystery Island, Isle of Pines, Noumea, Bay of Islands and Auckland. Going on a cruise was so great for our family. Maddy decided that her home was the boat (which was difficult to explain once we left) and really enjoyed going up and down the steps (all of them), playing in the pool and visiting the destinations. I enjoyed eating dessert after every meal, shopping and relaxing. Hubby enjoyed the casino, restaurants, pool and lack of internet/phone reception. There was something for everyone! Our ship was the Voyager of the Seas and we had a balcony room (must have) which had spectacular views of all our stops. We were in the middle of the ship on level 7 which if we go on a cruise again I will definitely be booking. The sway of the ship wasn’t noticeable but I did feel dizzy most of the time from the constant movement.
Our first few nights we ate at the main restaurant called the sapphire room which was an a-la-carte menu in a fine dining silver service restaurant. The service was great but we constantly worried at the behaviour of our 2 year old in the ‘fancy’ restaurant so we tried the buffet restaurant and never looked back. The food and variety of food was amazing and so delicious. There was an entire station dedicated to desserts (my weak point) and every day there was a change in food dishes ie. we had an italian night, french night, caribbean night and many many more.
I’m looking forward to doing it again, but next time we will take family with us (babysitting) for some family fun.
